7,746 Nigerians repatriated from Libya so far
A total of 7,746 Nigerians na im dem return back to Nigeria from Libya so far under de Waka Pipi Join Bodi (IOM) voluntary return and rehabilitation programme, which dem dey implement in join join with de European Union (EU).
De newest group of 165 voluntary returnees come back Nigeria on 3 May inside charted plane, with de help of (IOM).
De head of de IOM’s mission for inside Nigeria, Enira Krdzalic, give account from Lagos during de arrival of de latest group of returnees wey come from Libya.
According to Krdzalic, 600 returnees don dey rehabilitated already, while another 200 dey to be rehabilitated.
De News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report dat de latest returnees were given a pay of N17,100 each and transported to de Jibowu Park to choose deir different places wey dem dey go.
Krdzalic plead to de Nigerian government to increase efforts to offer employment opportunities to de returnees and come press de need to educate Nigerians on de dangers of irregular migration in de quest for beta life outside de country.
Alhaji Mustapha Maihaja, de Director-General of de National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), talk say dey are collaborating with IOM to make sure dat Nigerians wey strand in Libya go be brought back home.
“We dey here to make sure dat dey are well received. We feed and give dem money to support dem get back to deir different places wey dem dey go.
De South West Zonal Coordinator for NEMA, Mr. Suleiman Yajubu, talk on de need for Nigerian youths to assist in nation building by having de right mentality about deir country and staying home.
“A lot of initiatives don dey put in place by de present administration to make sure dat life dey beta for Nigeria,” he talk.
Maihaja add dat many state governments, particularly Edo State, don introduce skills acquisition programmes to help rehabilitate and reintegrate de returnees into society. He also reveal dat a similar initiative from IOM go take off in July.
NAN report dat according to de Charge d’Affaires of Nigeria in Libya, Mr. Illiya Fachano, de Federal Government don repatriate 1,213 Nigerians from Libya inside de first quarter of 2018.
While praising de Federal Government’s hard work to assist deir return to Nigeria, de returnees appeal to de government for assistance to get deir lives back.
