Afghan-owned energy company to supply power to one million Afghans

Bayat Power, a division of Bayat Energy, has just received final approval from the Afghan government for the construction of a new power plant, which will be located in Sheberghan city in Jawzjan province.
The power generated by the power plant will be distributed through Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, Afghanistan’s national power company.

A signing ceremony was held on 1 April, headed by President Ashraf Ghani, at the presidential palace in Kabul. During the ceremony, Aman Ghalib, the CEO of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, and Dr. Ehsan Bayat, the founder of Bayat Power and chairman of Bayat Group, signed the final agreement.
The project will see the development of an Afghan-owned energy exploration, production, generation and distribution sector, which will strengthen Afghanistan’s energy self-sufficiency. It will also help to provide stable and affordable power to the people of Afghanistan.

“We look forward to working with the Afghan government, our technical partners, and most importantly, our fellow citizens, in our mission to create jobs and opportunities which benefit the entire nation.” Dr. Bayat stated during the signing ceremony, further noting that the final approval for the construction, together with the execution of the agreement with the Government of Afghanistan means power can be provided to an additional 1,000,000 Afghans and businesses.

Also attending the ceremony were several high-ranking governmental officials, including Mohammad Qayoumi, Senior Infrastructure Advisor, Eklil Hakimi, Minister of Finance, Nargis Nehan, Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum and Ajmal Ahmady, Senior Economy and Banking Advisor.

“We’re an Afghan company, committed to developing Afghanistan’s rich natural gas reserves, so that we can provide Afghans with reliable and affordable electric power. Investing in Afghanistan’s domestic energy industry – and increasing our nation’s energy production – will drive Afghanistan’s economic growth, and help create new industries, jobs and opportunities which will benefit our entire country,” Dr. Bayat concluded.
