Kabul offers new visa on arrival service

Kabul offers new visa on arrival service, as Afghanistan’s government has launched a new visa processing unit at Hamid Karzai International Airport. The new visa centre will enable business visitors to apply for visas on arrival at the airport.

Bret Dalton, an American businessman, was the first foreigner to use the service when he arrived in Kabul.
“This is a big step for Afghanistan. This is what I have seen in other countries in the region. This is a positive move,” said Bret Dalton, who hopes to invest in the Afghan aviation sector.

The new unit allows business people and investors get visas on arrival that are valid for up to three years.
“The visa processing unit for investors is aimed at encouraging foreign investment and providing investors with the necessary facilities,” said Feroz Khan Masjidi, deputy minister of commerce and industries for investments.

“In the past there was no such privileges or facilities for foreign investors. They have faced tremendous problems. They would try to get visas in various regions, at embassies, to get a visa for Afghanistan,” Samir Rasa, head of the media office for the senior advisor to the president said.

Rasa added that investors from all countries can apply and that anyone who meets the criteria will be provided with a visa.

By making it easier for investors to get visas, more investors will hopefully be interested in investing in the country. This, in turn, will help to job opportunities for many Afghans at home.
