Almost 60 children among the 276 migrants found in an air-tight boat compartment near Turkey
Turkish authorities stopped a ship carrying 276 irregular migrants close to the Aegean coastal city of Izmir, Turkey’s state-run news agency reported on 7 July.
The migrants, including around 46 women and 59 children, were travelling in an air-tight compartment on the boat. After evacuation, some were found to have breathing difficulties as a result.
Eight people were arrested on suspicion of people smuggling.
