Over 100 stranded Nigerians return from Niger
About 109 Nigerian migrants stranded in Niger Republic due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown have been repatriated to the country.
The return was facilitated by the Nigerian government and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), said Senator Garba Mohammed, Federal Commissioner for National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI).
According to him, the returnees who were received by government officials at the Airport observed COVID-19 protocol including the 14-days isolation period.
For years, Niger Republic has been a transit country for thousands of Nigerian migrants attempting to reach different international destinations including Europe.
