UK asks for “more flexibility” to send irregular migrants back to France
The UK authorities have called for greater flexibility to send irregular migrants back to France after the recent peak in migrant and asylum seeker arrivals.
According to the health minister Edward Argar, the Dublin Regulation, the legislation which permits the return of irregular migrants to the first EU country they entered, is too inflexible for the UK.
Argar told Sky News that Prime Minister Boris Johnson was looking for “greater flexibility … in returning people who have come here illegally … and need to be returned back to France.”
