Nigerians cautioned against irregular migration by local NGO

Nigerians, particularly the youth, are urged to desist from embarking on irregular migration as the journeys are very risky and could cost them their lives.

This warning came from the coordinator of a non-governmental organisation, Re-educating Africans on the Risk and Dangers in Unplanned Journeys Abroad (RARDUJA), Mr. Eddy Duru, at a media chat with journalists in Owerri, Imo State.

Whilst referencing a report from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Mr Duru highlighted that nearly 900 persons had lost their lives trying to reach Europe irregularly this year, with over 11,000 arrested or exposed to abuse.

He emphasised the importance of using safe migration channels and obtaining accurate information about intended destinations before travelling.
