Body of teen migrant recovered on French beach

The body of a 16-year-old Sudanese boy who died attempting to reach the United Kingdom by sea has been recovered on a French beach, authorities said. He went missing, according to his friend, after their makeshift boat capsized in the English Channel.

The French minister for citizenship issues, Marlene Schiappa, expressed “immense sadness,” promising government action against “traffickers who profit from human misery”.

More than 650 migrants have crossed the English Channel in small boats this month. The United Kingdom government continues to intercept migrants on this route.
