UK border control remains active during lockdown as almost 500 migrants are found crossing the English channel
At least 486 migrants have been detected crossing the English Channel from France to the United Kingdom since the UK went into lockdown on March 23 due to coronavirus.
New arrivals are being intercepted by border force officials and transferred to immigration officials to be processed, according to the Home Office. They are not tested for coronavirus but are monitored for symptoms.
Previously, the Home Office spokesperson had emphasized that “coronavirus is not having an impact on our operational response to clandestine incidents and we still have the resources to deal with it.”
