Stranded migrants disembark in Italy

After days of being stranded on the Mediterranean sea, 180 migrants have been allowed to disembark in the Italian port of Sicily from the Ocean Vikings rescue ship. Among the group were 25 minors and two women, including one who is pregnant.

The migrants, who fled Libya through the sea, were rescued by the Ocean Viking in four separate operations between June 25 and 30. The migrants, mostly from Nigeria, Pakistan and Eritrea, will be transferred to a government vessel in Sicily and quarantined for 14 days.
