North Macedonia: Over 80 migrants found hiding in trucks

North Macedonian police detained 82 migrants found hidden in vehicles in two separate operations on June 12, 2021.

The first truck carrying 62 migrants was stopped on the main north-south highway near the border with Greece. The second vehicle which was carrying 20 migrants was found on a major highway near North Macedonia’s border with Serbia, according to a police statement.

Police have arrested the drivers and transferred the migrants, who were from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Eritrea and Mali, to the shelter center in the southern border town of Gevgelija, pending deportation to Greece.
