Nigeria’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, don express her consign for de many youths wey dey consider kurukere waka abroad on top de gbege wey dem dey face for Sahara and on de Mediterranean.

With ova  100 million Nigerians wey no get job, de Minister for Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige talk during de event say de rate of unemployment for de country don add to de ‘brain drain’ and high rates of kukukere waka abroad.

Farouq talk say localizing de Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) go hepp de country reduce de rate of kurukere waka abroad, and go provide safe and orderly waka abroad procedure for de citizens.

She advise say make de Nigerian govament work with pipu wey de mata consign to adopt de Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), a United Nations agreement wey cover “all angles of international waka abroad for correct and comprehensive.”

Farouq talk say de GCM “dey place plenty importance on ownership for different levels, especially for regional and national levels, as key to how dey fit successfully implement am.” 

Since 2015, Nigeria don become major origin country for waka abroad pipu wey dey travel thru kurukere ways reach Europe and oda destinations.

According to de International Organization for Migration (IOM), na ova 123,000 waka abroad pipu don arrive for Europe either by sea or land for 2019. IOM figure show say more dan 1,200 waka abroad pipu don die or don miss for 2019 while dem dey try to reach Europe thru kurukere ways.
