Almost 16,000 Nigerians returned from sixteen kountries since April 2017

A total of 15,731 Nigerians don just return from sixteen kountries since April 2017, na so de National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) talk. 

Thirty-one of the total men wey return suffer from torture, as well as 21 women. Seventy nine men and 31 women 0f de 15,731 dey kidnapped from out of Nigeria. Na 439 women wey get belle wey dem return. From all of de returnees, 1,396 get different medical problems wen dem brong dem back (592 men and 804 women) and 993 get psychocial needs wen dem return (523 men and 470 women).  

Na Ibrahim Farinloye, Acting Coordinator of NEMA Lagos Territorial Office wey provide dese figures, wen 168 Nigerian waka abroad pipu arrive from Libya for 6 December 2019.

According to Farinloye, most of de returnees come from Libya, with 13,884; 1,599 come from Niger; 79 come from Morocco; 24 from Burkina Faso; 12 from Liberia; four from France; three from Chad; two from Cote D’Ivoire; and one each from Ireland, Poland, Austria, The Gambia, Mauritania and Ethiopia. Adult men form 54 percent of de group and adult women form 37 per cent, while minors form anoda eight per cent.

De acting coordinator of NEMA Lagos Territorial Office also give breakdown of de staes wey de returned waka abroad pipu komot from: “Edo State top de list with 40.6 percent; Delta with 13.3 percent; Ogun with 6.2 percent; Imo with 4.7 percent; Lagos with 4.3 percent; Oyo with 4.1 percent; Yobe 3.6 percent; Kano with 3.1 percent and Osun with 2.9 percent, while oda states complete de rest.”

NEMA don welkom thousands back to Nigeria for part of de Special Assisted Voluntary Repatriation Programme, a joint initiative wey dey between de Government of Nigeria and de International Organization for Migration (IOM).
