Migrants disembark in Malta after weeks on Mediterranean sea
About 425 migrants have been allowed to disembark in Malta after weeks of being stranded on the Mediterranean sea.
The migrants who fled Libya were held off the coast of Malta on four tourist vessels, after Malta refused to allow them to disembark, citing the coronavirus pandemic as the reason. The Maltese government said it allowed the disembarkation on 7 June due to a “commotion” onboard one of the vessels.
